I Found a New Way to Experience True Love Today

I found a new way to experience true love today. In the last place I’d expect to. I use the term true love purposefully… because this isn’t a story about big love. I think today we sometimes mistake big love for true love. This was not big love. But it was true love...

With a Little Help From My Friends

Trust can be scary at first...

With a Little Help From My Friends

I’ll never forget hurricane Sandy. When I awoke the morning after, I did a survey of my apartment. No heat. No hot water. No electricity. No Gas. No idea when it was coming back. For a few hours I was defiant. “I can do it… I’ll tough it out… It’ll be like camping… My apartment can be like a cave in the side of a mountain like the yogis of old used to have…” But then I got cold. And hungry. And bored. It began to dawn on me that I was going to have to do something I almost never do. Ask for help...

The 100th Date

How honest is your self-talk?

The 100th Date

The façade fades and we engage with more authenticity. That’s how it’s supposed to work...

Worshiping Snow Angles

Playfulness can be prayer!

Worshiping Snow Angles

This weekend, New York City had its biggest snowstorm of the year. Almost a foot of the good stuff. Thick, wet, easily packable… the kind of snow Frosty was made from. If all you could think about during the storm was the cold and inconvenience of it all, I want you to stop reading this, do three summersaults, watch at least 30 minutes of cartoons, then come back. Go ahead, I’ll wait. This weekend’s snow is like a personal invitation from God to go play...

Learning to Fly

That feeling just before you jump...

Learning to Fly

I want to learn how to fly. I want to live this life to its fullest capacity. I want to love well. I know all of this takes self-awareness but, how many of us are really willing to go through what it takes to get that awareness? It seems in my life the only way I’ve ever been able to learn anything is the hard way. “Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding.” Kahlil Gibran...
